Score the workflow before building
A practical assessment looks at volume, time consumed, error cost, data readiness, decision complexity, and the acceptable level of human oversight.
- How frequently does the work occur?
- What does delay or inconsistency cost?
- Is the required knowledge accessible and trustworthy?
- Can a human review uncertain outputs?
- Is success observable in operational terms?
Design control into the experience
Production AI needs more than a prompt. It needs permissions, source visibility, escalation paths, feedback, evaluation, and monitoring.
The goal is not to remove people from every decision. It is to give them better context, reduce avoidable effort, and make the operation more consistent without hiding uncertainty.
